The Twoks in a backyard
I first heard about The Twoks via Joe Nuttall of Enola Fall (when he posted about playing with them). I was taken by ”Sailing Away”. I then saw an update from Brisbane Festival that The Twoks were going to be playing in the next Suburb from me, Carina, as part of ‘Brisbane Backyards’ – which is a great Brisbane Festival initiative. So, last night I saw the trio live for the first time.
The Twoks play beautiful, climactic music and have no problem with planes flying overhead during their gig. There is a really friendly vibe among the group and Xani Kolac’s (violin, vocals) sexy voice is a stand-out. I’m officially a fan now and it was great to meet them after the show and to buy their album - ‘It Won’t End That Way’ directly from them that they enthusiastically promoted.
ABC Art Nation were filming the event and below is a picture of the video filming The Twoks. Thanks to Art Nation Host Fenella Kirk for taking the picture and tweeting it. Thanks also to Nick and Sue of Carina for donating their gorgeous backyard for the show. It’s a nice change to listen to music in that sort of setting.
